The Iberian Folk Dancers, formerly ‘The Iberian Folk Dance & Music Society’, began about 20 years ago. It was started by Lucille Armstrong who travelled through Spain and Portugal, collecting the regional dances. She wrote down the music, learnt the dances, sang the songs, sketched the costumes. This was before the Spanish Civil War. In England she taught the dances, made the costumes, taught the songs to guitarists .
